The TfL Van Scrappage Scheme
The Mayor of London introduced a new £23 million scrappage scheme to help tackle London’s air quality crisis and help micro-businesses prepare for the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) which was introduced in 2019. Eligible London businesses – now expanded to include those with 50 employees or fewer and with a maximum turnover of £632k for businesses with 10 or fewer employees or £10.2m for those with 50 or fewer employees – can claim funding of up to £7,000 per vehicle (double the previous amount) to switch to the cleanest models, with £9,500 now available for those switching to electric vans. Following the introduction of London’s new central London ULEZ, charges now apply to vehicles which do not meet stricter emission standards that apply 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Diesel vans which do not meet the latest Euro 6 standard will have to pay £12.50 a day to drive in central London.
